Selecting a Siding Contractor
Once the cumbersome task of deciding on siding replacement is done, comes the harder job of selecting the right contractor for home siding options. There are many ways of finding a siding contractor such as yellow pages, word of mouth from a friend or family member, or advertisements seen/heard around town, television, or radio.
There are also some websites that you can check out as well: www.contractor.com, www.siding-contractors.com, and www.needcontractors.com. Once you have narrowed down your contractors, look to make sure that they have a valid license and insurance, do your own background check for credentials, see if they are a member of an association, and finally see samples of work that they have completed.
When you have selected the contractor that is going to complete to job, make sure that there are no miscommunication in the terms and conditions. Make sure that before an estimate is given, that the contractor looks at the actual job that is in question. Even though the square footage quote is easy enough, there may be other factors to consider as far as the actually architecture of the house and any extra labor that may be needed.
Specify if the old siding, if there is any, needs to be removed and that any and all debris from the work is to be removed from the site once the work is complete by the contractor. There should be a payment schedule that is agreed upon by both the contractor and the customer as well as and understanding of each other’s terms. Above all, make sure that the price quote with all terms and conditions are in writing and that the contractor and client agree on them, signed and dated. Make sure that the contract is read thoroughly of all disclaimers that may have not been discussed and for overall clarity.
Keeping all these aspects in mind, this decision should be a well informed one with little regret afterwards on how it was made and the work outcome. Good luck on home siding options improvements.
